Project Dental Awareness provides students an opportunity to receive access and exposure to dentistry
by:
- Visiting elementary schools
- Introducing grades K-6 to educational activities using hands-on laboratory exercises and oral hygiene, disease prevention, and nutrition instruction
- Providing grades 7-12 an opportunity to explore the field of dentistry through field trips to Baylor College of Dentistry
Goal Our goal is to attract students in Grades K-12 to the field of dentistry by increasing their awareness of dental career opportunities and by increasing
their interest in dentistry through the use of hands-on activities, site visits, and structured tours of the dental school. Ultimately, we hope to increase the number of
dentists serving underserved populations by attracting students from underserved areas and encouraging them to return to their neighborhoods to practice.
- To date, over 5,2,00 students in K-6 have been presented to
- To date, over 6,000 students in grades 7-12 have participated in the tours and program
