Applicants to the Endodontics program who are not graduates of a U.S./Canadian dental school are required to take the GRE.  Scores must be submitted to PASS.

International Student Requirements

An applicant from another country seeking admission to graduate studies must meet the same requirements as applicants from the U.S.

1.       International transcripts (except those from Canadian schools) must be evaluated by Educational Credentials Evaluators, Post Office Box 514070, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203-3470 (414-289-3400; fax 414-289-3411). Request the “course-by-course” report. http://www.ece.org

2.       Report of minimum score of 79-80 (internet based) 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and fluency in written and spoken English for applicants whose first language is not English.

Language Requirements

The applicant must demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.  Prospective students whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).  All applicants from non-English-speaking countries must present a score of at least 550 on the paper-based test TOEFL examination or 213 on the computer-based test and 79 on the web-based test in order to be admitted to graduate studies.  In certain circumstances, a student may be admitted to graduate studies prior to obtaining the required score, but in all cases a TOEFL score must be submitted for the application to be complete.  This circumstance shall apply only to students who are already residing in the United States at the time of application and where the appropriate Admissions Committee can determine that the candidate has adequate English language skills to begin instruction.  In these cases, the applicant must receive the required score by the end of their second semester in residence; otherwise, participation in the program will be terminated.  The TOEFL exam may be waived if the candidate has a previous degree (B.S./B.S., M.S., or D.D.S./D.M.D.) from a fully accredited U.S. or Canadian institution.

Immigration and Visa Requirements

(U.S. Immigration Officials Announce New Rules on Student Visas (from The Chronicle of Higher Education) Effective April 8, 2001).

Foreign citizens who are visiting the United States and want to study at an American college now will have to wait to begin their course work until they obtain a student visa.  Previously foreign citizens who were in the U.S. on tourist or business visas, and who had applied to change their visa status to a student visa, could start college courses while Immigration officials processed such requests.
