By Dr. James S. Cole, Dean
Our second century dawns exceptionally bright.
After 100 years of challenges and change, Baylor
College of Dentistry is positioned for greatness.
We are a part of The Texas A&M University
System Health Science Center, and our direction
is clear: to be a national leader
in dental education and research.
We would not be where we are today without the
vision, dedication and determination of thousands
of people: dentists, dental hygienists,
faculty, students, staff, community leaders,
contributors and friends. Their commitment and
hard work sustained our dental college during
some difficult times.
This legacy of service, cultivated over 10 decades,
should not be taken lightly. It is a hard-won
gift.
My hope is that those who have benefited from
this legacy will feel a sense of responsibility
to those who have gone before; that we will be
inspired and motivated to actively look for ways
to support the college in its continuing quest
for excellence.
It is now up to us. As we meet the challenges of
the coming years we must remember that we are recording
the history of our second century. Let us be deliberate
and bold, so that when that story is written, those
who follow us will read it with pride and say “They
were dedicated. They were determined. They made
a difference.” |
