Research Day set for April 7
Dr. Sharon Gordon is the keynote speaker for Baylor College of Dentistry's annual Research Day April 7. She is director of the Office of Education at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial
Research/National Institutes of Health.
Set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the sixth floor lobby, Room 604 and Room 605, the program is co-sponsored by the BCD Student Research Group and the Office of Research and Advanced Education. It receives
additional support from the Baylor Oral Health Foundation, the American Association for Dental Research's Dallas section and participating vendors.
In addition to the invited speaker, Research Day features poster and oral presentation formats as well as competitions for all students that include cash awards for winners. Vendors will be on hand to
provide information about various dental products. Additionally, participants can earn up to five hours of lecture/demonstration continuing education credit.
"Research Day is a great opportunity to learn more about some of the research taking place at the college," said Dr. Robert D. Spears
(BCD '02), SRG faculty adviser and assistant professor of biomedical sciences. "It recognizes the research efforts of BCD's dental and dental hygiene students, graduate students and faculty."
Awards will be presented in the following student competitions: first- and second-place dental hygiene table clinic; first- through fourth-place dental student presentation; and first-place graduate
student in two categories (basic science and clinical science). SRG, AADR's Dallas section and Caulk/Dentsply provide the cash awards.
A schedule of events was sent via e-mail Feb. 9. For more information, contact Spears at Ext 8297 or rspears@bcd.tamhsc.edu.
