BCD turns out for 'Race for the Cure'

Race for the Cure LogoMore than 35 dental and dental hygiene students, faculty and staff from Baylor College of Dentistry participated in the 21st annual Komen Dallas Race for the Cure Oct. 18. BCD's chapter of the Texas Association of Women Dentists organized the college's team participation.

"Breast cancer awareness is an important issue," said Karina Marr (D3), president. "This year, the TAWD chapter enlisted the support of the entire school. We were able to raise awareness and show that even though we are in the dental profession, breast cancer is still a disease that's important to us."

Sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Dallas race was part of the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. BCD team members received an official Komen race shirt and an official BCD race shirt.
