Media Resources features quality services
Baylor College of Dentistry's Office of
Media Resources provides students, faculty and staff with the highest quality, professionally produced media projects and services. Assistance is available for table clinic presentations, research
project posters, slide presentations and other college-related presentations. Deadlines for preparing posters and table clinics for upcoming professional meetings are listed below.
Media resources provides a wide
range of teaching and research support including the planning, design and production of educational and audiovisual materials, course manuals, publications, exhibits, table clinics and computer-assisted instruction
programs. The office offers:
- digital services, including presentation graphics (slides, PowerPoint presentations), graphic art, publication design, photography, multimedia video services;
- digital imaging through which photographs can be converted into slides as well as animation in PowerPoint applications;
- support of faculty and other personnel by creating their presentations;
- equipment such as scanners, laptops and digital projectors;
- creative software that other departments don't have; and
- help with questions about any type of media application.
The office's graphic design area is a
good resource for any visual communication needs, offering production art and original design work for title boards and posters, brochure design, production art, logo design,
newsletters and fliers, invitations, dental illustrations, slides and digital presentations, scanning and digitizing, and laser printing.
The photography area is the official photo service center for BCD. Services include everything from portraits to tabletop product shots to location photography. Media can turn flat and three-dimensional art,
materials from books, photographs, charts and maps into 35mm slides and color or black and white prints. Services include studio and copy stand photography,
black-and-white film processing and printing, color film processing, slide duplication, color printing, Ektachrome and Kodachrome slide film processing.
Media Resources provides professional-quality video production services that can turn an ordinary presentation into an exciting, effective communication experience.
Broadcast-quality equipment is used for instructional, public relations and "live" technique and product demonstrations. Interactive multimedia combines audio, video,
text, graphics and animation in a true interactive environment that isn't limited by browser functionality, which means projects can be delivered by CD-ROM, Intranet or
the Internet. The office also provides specialized audio-visual equipment and support for classroom instruction and student presentations.
Janet Reinwald is director of media resources. Other office personnel include: Ana Charles, administrative assistant; Scott Frederick, audio-visual specialist; Patti Haskins,
computer graphics specialist; Rick McDaniel, photographer; and Mary Noon, publications designer.
