Awards & Honors Al-Hashimi receives IADR award
Dr. Ibtisam Al-Hashimi, associate professor of periodontics, received a Certificate of Appreciation Award for her contributions as program chair of the 81st General Session of the
International Association for Dental Research. It was presented during the meeting in Göteborg, Sweden, in June.
ACD names three BCD fellows
Dr. Robert Cederberg (BCD '79), associate professor of diagnostic sciences, Dr. Jack Long (BCD '76), director of admissions and academic records, and Dr. Thomas
McKinney (BCD '68), associate professor of restorative sciences, were inducted as fellows of the American College of Dentists during the organization's 83rd annual meeting in October in San Francisco.
Founded in 1920, ACD recognizes dentists who have made significant contributions to the advancement of dentistry and promotes excellence, ethics and professionalism in
dentistry. Awarded by invitation only, ACD fellowship is based on demonstrated leadership and contributions to the dental profession and society.
Gannaway achieves ICD fellowship
The International College of Dentists inducted Dr. Mark
Gannaway (BCD '81), assistant professor of restorative sciences, into its ranks as a fellow during the organization's 74th annual meeting in October in San Francisco. An
honorary organization for the recognition of outstanding and meritorious service to the profession, ICD presented the fellowship for "conspicuous service rendered in the art and science of dentistry."
Staff Forum announces award
Carol Libby, administrative assistant I in periodontics, was named Staff Employee of the Third Quarter 2003 by the Baylor College of Dentistry Staff Forum in October. See "Employee Profile" in this issue of the Baylor Dental Record Online for more information about Libby.
