BCD students make presentations to children

Third-year dental students made Tooth Talk presentations to students at 15 Texas elementary schools in Dallas, Forney, Irving and Rowlett. They also spoke to several groups of preschool children at The Science Place in Dallas Fair Park.

Fourth-year dental students provided dental exams, oral cancer screenings and dental health education at six community health fairs in Dallas and Lewisville, Texas. They provided dental screenings for students at an elementary school in each city as well. Several students also volunteered at Mission East Dallas.

Periodontic residents Dr. Fanasy Deming and Dr. Julie Horn represented the college at a wellness event in Mesquite, Texas, sponsored by the Mesquite Independent School District.

Supervising dentists for these events were Dr. T.C. Lyon, professor emeritus of public health sciences, and Dr. John Nelson, retired associate dean of clinical services and professor emeritus of diagnostic sciences.
