Alumni Association

Check out Baylor College of Dentistry Alumni Association news and calendar information by clicking on "Alumni Services" on BCD's Web site at www.tambcd.edu. Job listings for job seekers and recruiters are available there as well.

BDR Online

BCD faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit professional and personal news for publication in the Baylor Dental Record Online, BCD's monthly online newsletter. Some submissions may be held for other publications such as the Baylor Dental Journal, the college's annual magazine, or C-Scan, the quarterly newsletter of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center.

The deadline for submissions is generally the Friday following the first Monday of each month. However, a reminder will be sent via e-mail prior to each deadline. To submit news or for more information, contact Elizabeth J. Fulce, publications editor in the Office of Communications and Development, at efulce@tambcd.edu or at Ext 8358.

BCD Calendar

The Baylor College of Dentistry calendar of events and activities is available to faculty, staff and students on-campus via the college intranet. Just click on "College Calendar" to access it, and then click on a specific month for the current schedule.

The Dean's Office maintains the calendar. To add an event, send a notice by campus mail or e-mail to Sara Wartes (swartes@tambcd.edu), administrative coordinator I in the office. Include the name of the event, the sponsoring organization (if any), date, time and place.

CODA

Destination 2004, the first CODA 2004 self-study newsletter, has been posted on the BCD intranet at http://exchange/intranet/Documents/CODA/newsletter1.pdf. It is written by Dr. Laurette Lipson (BCD '93-Honor), professor in the Dean's Office. Check the site for updates as the self-study progresses.

Fund-raisers

Breakers: A Coffee House and More is now open in the B-level adjacent to the student lounge. The coffee cart offers a variety of drinks including coffee, tea, latte, espresso, frappuccino, smoothies and more. A percentage of the proceeds benefits BCD Student Council projects.

Discount movie tickets are available for $6 each. Redeemable at any Loews or Magic Johnson theater in Texas, the tickets are good anytime including weekends and opening nights. Each ticket includes a coupon to get a small popcorn free. Tickets are valid through June 2004. Proceeds benefit the third-year dental class. 2004 Entertainment Passbooks for the Dallas area are being sold by the D3 class for $19. Good through November 2004, the passbooks contain hundreds of half-off and two-for-one coupons on travel, dining, shopping, attractions and much more. Notice

BCD's Service and Outreach Society will vote on the group's scholarship recipient during its next meeting on April 14 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 604. Bring your lunch to the meeting. Formerly known as the BCD Women's Club, the society will choose a dental or dental hygiene student to receive a $1,000 scholarship. New members are always welcome. For more information, contact Carol Libby, SOS president, at clibby@bcd.tamhsc.edu.

Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags tickets are now available through BCD's Employee Activity Organization. Hurricane Harbor tickets are $19.25 per person. Six Flags season passes are $64.75 and general-use tickets are $25.25. A limited supply of Super Saver tickets (good May 1 to July 4) is available for $20.25 each. Stop by Room 498 to purchase your tickets.

Obituaries

Larthrage Coleman passed away March 8 in Dallas. His daughter is Hattie Marshall, dental laboratory technician I in restorative sciences.

Leonard Hall Jr. passed away March 30 in Dallas. His grandmother is Lillie Coleman, dental dispensing technician in the restorative sciences.

Betty Hurt passed away March 31 in Waynesboro, Miss. Her husband is Dr. William Hurt, former chair of periodontics.

Glenn Tookah Reinwald passed away March 1 in Fort Worth, Texas. Her daughter-in-law is Janet Reinwald, director of media resources.
